Takeover in Refractory Metals Field

H.C. Starck GmbH (Goslar, Germany), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bayer AG, has recently CSM Industries Inc, and together form one of the world's largest manufacturers and fabricators of refractory metals, molybdenum, tantalum and tungsten.

Combining high melting point with good electrical properties, these materials are widely used in high temperature furnace construction. CSM supplies rod and sheet products to European furnace constructors through its UK subsidiary Special Metals Fabrication Ltd (SMF) which has been satisfying the needs of the furnace industry for over 50 years.

Being specialist fabricators, SMF manufactures elements, radiation screens and furnace furniture in all refractory metals to customer specifications and can design to meet particular applications.
