High Temperature Calibration Service

Sira Test & Certification Ltd (Chislehurst, Kent, England) is now able to provide UKAS accredited calibration services for thermocouples across the 250°C to 1300°C temperature range for devices used in such applications as ceramics, glass, aerospace, steel and refining.

Many processes in these industries are critically dependent upon temperature and Sira has invested in a unique spherical calibration furnace to provide the most up-to-date temperature calibration facility in the UK.

The innovative, spherical design of the calibration globe is said to provide a very stable environment ensuring temperature uniformity. Sira says that conventional tube designs can present problems, namely variable temperature gradients at the end of the tube, demanding careful positioning of the thermocouples and making repeatability of measurements more difficult to achieve.

Ray Hewett, Sira's Technical Manager, explain: "We are now able to deliver UKAS-accredited temperature calibration across the whole spectrum from -80°C to +1300°C, guaranteeing amongst the best measurement uncertainties found anywhere in the UK; 1.2°C at 250°C and 3°C at 1300°C. Increasingly focussed on turnaround times, we believe that Sira delivers one of the fastest services available, without compromising quality".
