Increased Tile Capacity in Saudi Arabia

AUCBM has reported that during the third quarter of 2002 a new glazed floor tile production line, with an output capacity of some 6,000 square metres per day, was brought into production by the Saudi Arabian producer Al Jawdah Ceramic Company.

This will supplement the existing plant - installed in Riyadh in 1995 by Sacmi - and will boost overall capacity to 12,000 square metres per day.

The most important features of the new installation are a continuous MTC041 mill, two PH2890 presses and an FMP2500 kiln. The company forms part of an industrial group that also produces water heaters and PVC piping.

In its regular ceramic round-up, AUCBM also said that during the third quarter of 2002, The Arabian Co for Porcelain & Sanitaryware Industry (Hamah, Syria) produced nearly 8.3 million tiles of 15cm x 15cm format. The company also produced 134,000 pieces of sanitaryware in the same period, all of which were marketed locally.

This year's Arab Meeting on Ceramic, Glass and their Raw Materials has been scheduled for 1-2 December 2003 in Cairo, Egypt.
