CERAMITEC 2006: Opportunities and Risks - the Growth Markets of Central & Eastern Europe

A panel discussion on 'The ceramic markets of Europe - Growth markets of Central and Eastern Europe' will take place on Friday 19 May 2006 at CERAMITEC 2006, the 10th International Trade Fair for Machinery, Equipment, Plant, Processes and Raw Materials for Ceramics and Powder Metallurgy in Munich, Germany.

The opening of the markets in Eastern Europe is creating new and attractive opportunities for industry. Positive economic benefits are expected as a result of the dynamic growth in trading volumes with countries in Eastern Europe. This is the forecast for 2006 from the German Office for Foreign Trade (Bundesagentur für Aussenwirtschaft), which predicts a rise in GDP of 6% for the Ukraine and 4.5% for Poland. However, the considerable differences between western industrialised nations and Eastern Europe in terms of wages, tax and government support, represents a significant challenge. The current opportunities and risks involved in trade with Central and Eastern Europe will be explored in detail in this panel discussion.

The discussion, involving experts in the field, will take place as part of the CERAMITEC FORUM programme. This international forum of lectures and discussions, held right in the middle of the fair, is a chance to find out
about trends in the sector, or, for exhibitors, to take an active part by putting on an event themselves.

The leading experts taking part in the discussion will include Ralf Becker (Villeroy & Boch), Alberto Castelfranco (SACMI), Dr Zbigniew Pedizich (Polish Ceramics Association), Guenther Schmidt (Stephan Schmidt Group) and Gerhard Seitz (SAMA Maschinenbau GmbH). An exciting and informative exchange of
views is guaranteed according to organiser Messe Muenchen GmbH. CERAMITEC takes place from 16 to 19 May 2006.
