Royal Crown Derby set for further expansion

Following a record breaking intake of orders at 'The Stoke Show' in February, Royal Crown Derby has announced a 1 million plus factory expansion that will increase production by 25% and create 17 new jobs. Included in the development over the next 18 months will be an expanded decorating shop, new office facilities, updated plant and equipment and a further extension of the computer facilities.

"The working environment in general will be improved", said chief executive Hugh Gibson, who led the management buy-out team from Royal Doulton last year. "Since we regained our independence, customers across the world have been extremely supportive. We secured close to £1.5 million worth of new business at The Stoke Show, more than three times ahead of our expectation.

It is all very exciting; however we have to keep investing in the infrastructure of the business if we are to continue to prosper. The new facilities and the expansions to the work force are all about growing the businesses while maintaining quality and improving efficiency. The Royal Crown Derby name stands for absolute excellence and we must be able to guarantee this, even with a substantially expanded order book. This is our driving culture".

The new jobs created by this latest announcement will see the company's workforce grow to a total of 317.
