Quality in Particulate Manufacturing

'Quality in Particulate Manufacturing' is a seminar on recent developments in minimising particle degradation, segregation and caking in process plants and will take place on 15 April 2003 at the University of Greenwich in London.

Particle degradation (breakage), segregation (de-blending) and caking (lumping) are common problems in solids processing plants, resulting in significant on-costs to production operations.

Over the last four years, the Universities of Greenwich and Surrey, in collaboration with six major UK based processing organisations and with the support of the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), have engaged in a major programme of research with a view to providing practical approaches for addressing these issues.

£2.5 million and 20 man-years have been invested in this programme and it is anticipated that the outcomes will have a big impact on how industry addresses these problems. Therefore, the intention of this seminar is to present industry with an opportunity to learn how the significant outputs of the programme may be used to address product quality issues.
