Mexican Sanitaryware Makers Show Interest in UK Supplies

Wendy Hall, International Trade Advisor at the Stoke-on-Trent office of UK Trade & Investment, has recently returned from a trip to evaluate business opportunities in Mexico.

During her time there, Wendy visited sanitaryware manufacturing operations in both Monterrey and Mexico City, part of a major ceramic manufacturing scene and significant in global terms.

Wendy has reported that there was particular interest in UK supplies from Cato Cerámica, the sanitaryware manufacturer just celebrating 10 years in the business.

Cato Cerámica, headquartered in Santa Catarina, Nueva León, has built up a significant market share in Mexico. The company operates three plants; two of them located in northeast Mexico and one in the central part of the country and has sales in Central America, the United States and Canada. The product line has expanded to include commercial products and soon will be adding the next generation of performance products to double sales volume in three years.

Cato has expressed an interest in discussing kilns, casting systems and glazes with UK technology providers. Further details can be obtained by e-mailing Wendy Hall at: WendyHall@nscci.co.uk
