MAC Expands USA Operations; New Facility Opens

Morgan Advanced Ceramics (MAC) has announced the opening of its new facility in Hayward, CA, USA. The 214,000 square foot facility will serve as the MAC-Americas corporate headquarters as well as the new manufacturing site for WESGO Metals and WESGO Ceramics.

The Hayward site allocates 130,000 square feet for WESGO Ceramics and 60,000 square feet for the metals division. Both factories will use the same environmentally safe, close-looped, wastewater treatment plant to ensure zero discharge of waste water. They will also use the same process gases.

By combining the R&D effort into one shared facility, MAC says it will be able to better manage the physical interface in ceramic-to-metal assemblies. The facility will have a dedicated metallising paint manufacturing area, allowing the company to manage the entire metallising system. However, the factories will be completely segregated in order to prevent cross-contamination of materials. Additionally, WESGO Metals will maintain strict security requirements as its uses precious metals in its processes.

The remaining space will accommodate the MAC-Americas' corporate offices while 9,000 square feet will be left for future expansion. 75% of the MAC-Americas management team will now be located in the Hayward site.
