European Heavy Clay Body Streamlines Organisation

TBE, the European Federation of Brick and Roof Tile Producers, has recently implemented a major reorganisation in order to improve communications and be more effective in dealing with EU policies which affect the industry.

The EU will soon be enlarged with 10 additional countries and it is broadening the scope of its activities.

In order to be more effective in dealing with matters such as environmental and health and safety legislation, product standardisation and other key issues, TBE has just announced the appointment of an Executive Committee involving industry and the national associations to formulate its policy and strategy.

In addition, Product Groups have been created for facing bricks, blocks and roof tiles to ensure that important issues facing the respective products are managed and integrated in the TBE strategy.

An Environmental & Social Matters Working Group has also been formed to deal with issues arising from EU policy in this area.

The TBE secretariat has moved from Zurich to Brussels in order to be present where the action is. TBE is a member of Cérame-Unie, the liaison office of the European ceramic industry, and its secretariat will now be located at the Cérame-Unie office.

TBE has member associations in 13 of the current 15 EU member states plus in three accession countries and also in Switzerland, all of which unite around 500 member companies.
