New Volume on Ceramic Gas Turbine Design

ASME Press has announced the publication of 'Ceramic Gas Turbine Design and Test Experience' (Progress in Ceramic Gas Turbine Development, Volume 1).

The book summarises the history and current status of the development of gas turbine engines and ancillary equipment using ceramic hot section components. Specifically, the book focuses on the evolution of component and engine designs and the demonstration of design concepts, through rig and engine testing of the ceramic gas turbine programmes in the USA, Japan, Western Europe and the former-USSR (primarily Russia).

Nearly all the material has been prepared by technical personnel who were intimately involved in the development and demonstration of the ceramic gas turbine designs at their companies.

The reference is aimed at allowing the reader to quickly become familiar with the design challenges and solutions for using ceramics in gas turbine equipment. It presents the experiences of the researchers that took ceramic gas turbine through the concept, preliminary and detail design phases, while following the iterative design-test process cycles.

The book also demonstrates the hurdles that had to be overcome to generate functional and durable component design, as well as the challenges that remain for the full-scale commercialisation of the ceramic gas turbine.

The book (ISBN 0-7918-0181-0) is a hardback volume priced at £145 or 253.75 euro.
