CIMTEC Announced for 2002


The 2002 staging of CIMTEC (the International Conference on Materials and Technologies) will be held in Florence, Italy from 14-19 July 2002. The event, which is endorsed by major professional organisations world-wide, will consist of the '10th International Ceramics Congress' and the '3rd Forum on New Materials'.

The Ceramics Congress will cover the broad area of science and technology of advanced ceramics (11 section) plus two symposia being envisaged for the field of traditional ceramics; one specific section for silicate ceramics (whitewares and heavy clay products) and the other devoted to the discussion of perspectives of ceramic refractories, including their application in metallurgy, glass, cement, ceramics and other industrial sectors.

The Forum on New Materials will consist of six international conferences:

1/ Computational Modelling and Simulation of Materials
2/ Mass and Charge Transport in Inorganic Materials
3/ Science and Engineering of HTC Superconductivity
4/ Fundamental Physical Properties and Electronic Applications of Diamond and other Carbon Materials
5/ Advanced Inorganic Fibre Composites for Structural Applications
6/ Materials in Clinical Applications

About 2,000 technical presentations are expected from experts coming from over 60 European and overseas countries.
