Boral Appoints Two Executive General Managers

The Managing Director of Boral Limited (Sydney, NSW, Australia), Rod Pearse, has announced that Phil Jobe has resigned from Boral, effective 9 April 2009, to take up the position of CEO with Capral Limited. Phil joined Boral in 1995 and has been Executive General Manager of Boral’s Cement division since late 1999.

Boral’s Cement division will be separated into two operating divisions – Cement and Construction Related Businesses.

Mike Beardsell has been appointed as Executive General Manager of the new Cement division, which will include Blue Circle Southern Cement and Asian Construction Materials. The new Cement division employs approximately 4,225 people across 115 locations. Mike joined Boral in 2001 and has been National General Manager of Blue Circle Southern Cement reporting to Phil Jobe since 2004.

Before joining Boral, Mike held senior roles in resources and construction materials sectors. He holds a PhD in industrial forestry operations and a Master of Science.

Warren Davison has been appointed as Executive General Manager of Construction Related Businesses, which employs around 1,280 people across 32 sites and includes De Martin & Gasparini (concrete placing), Boral Formwork & Scaffolding and Dowell Windows. Warren joined Boral in 1998 and is currently General Manager of Boral’s Construction Related Businesses reporting to Phil Jobe.

Warren came to Boral with a strong background in sales and manufacturing management in Australia and New Zealand. He has a Master of Science (Hons) degree and postgraduate business qualifications.

Both appointments are effective from April 2009.

Rod Pearse said: “I would like to thank Phil for his contribution and leadership over the past fourteen years. Phil has made a significant contribution to Boral, particularly in turning around the performance of businesses such as Boral Windows, as well as his role as Managing Director of Blue Circle Southern Cement.

“I welcome both Mike and Warren to Boral’s Management Committee. I am very pleased that we are able to confidently make these internal appointments; it demonstrates the depth and breadth of management talent within the company. Mike and Warren both have extensive experience within Boral as well as broader industry experience. Mike’s proven expertise is in general and operational management, and managing technology and capital projects. Warren has a strong record of general and operational management as well as successful business turnarounds and contract management.”
