Ancora and Levitiles Launch Large-Sized Steps

An innovative technology which allows the creation of large sized steps (120cm x 60cm) uses the technique of directly hot-bending the finished tile. These are the special pieces created by LeviKurve, part of the Ancora Group (Sassuolo, MO, Italy), using a technology which responds to the needs of producers to complete ceramic ranges that satisfy the ever more demanding requests of designers.

During the process, the ceramic material is controlled from a thermal point of view to obtain a fired curve suitable to each specific production, avoiding variations in the shade of the product.

On the back of the tile, using special precision tools, the points and the depth of the cuts are calibrated in relation to the type of material and the curve desired.

The production cycle continues inside a roller kiln capable of regulating the thermal period that the tile has to undergo to obtain the correct sagging of the material, which is shaped on a moulded support.

The tile is finished with a water-jet propeller machine to obtain the final measurements.

Ancora Group is an industrial group divided into two main sections, mechanical and finishings. The first one designs and produces machinery and complete lines for ceramic tile finishings, while the finishings department is the largest world-wide production centre specialised in end of line treatments: smoothening, lapping, cutting and grinding of the ceramic product.

Levitiles, with headquarters in Castellarano (RE, Italy), guarantees productivity with 16 complete processing lines, four Hi Coat Coating System lines and a complete department for tile curving and ‘L’ shaped elements. Levitiles supplies over 50 Italian ceramic producers with almost 9 million square metres of worked material each year.

LeviKurve, founded in a joint venture with Diva Keser from Faenza (RA, Italy), responds to the rising demand to complete ceramic ranges with a set of special pieces, such as L-shaped elements and steps up to 1200mm, directly hot-bending the finished tile with materials such as full body and glazed porcelain, with smooth, rustic or structured surfaces.
