Yageo Breaks News Ground in High Voltage MLCC Market Print-Friendly Version

Yageo Corporation (Hsin Tien, Taipei) has announced that it will enhance collaboration with ChipCera Technology Co Ltd (Kaohsiung, Taiwan), a strategic partner, to boost its market presence in high-end multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC). On the strength of ChipCera's high voltage MLCC technology, Yageo expects its market share to reach 15% worldwide by the end of 2006, making it a leading global player in the high voltage MLCC sector.

Driven by the growing demand from PCs, laptop computers, LCD TVs, mobile phones, back-light modules in car interior display and other LCD related applications, Yageo has been stepping up its high voltage MLCC production to meet global customer requirements. Yageo will more than doubled its current capacity of high voltage MLCC by the year-end with emphasis on the 100V-3000V range through rationalising capacity allocation and process debottlenecking at ChipCera. Other popular applications of high voltage MLCC include lightings, digital cameras, cable modems, networking equipments and power supplies.

The Yageo management team stressed: "Expanding our core business and raising our shares of specialty products are Yageo's major operational focuses. To that end, Yageo and Chipcera Technology are working together to provide a comprehensive range of high voltage MLCC product lines that will fully satisfy global market demand. In response to long term market growth, Yageo will continue to expand its capacity of high voltage MLCC in reinforcing its position in the high end market."

Yageo and ChipCera high voltage MLCC products are safety certified for both the European (TUV) and US (UL) markets. Moving forward, Yageo will work with ChipCera in leveraging its base metal electrode (BME) manufacturing technology to further improve the yields of high voltage MLCC production in providing customers with quality solutions.
