Thermal Measurement Awareness Network

NPL (Teddington, Middx, England) has launched the Thermal Measurement Awareness Network (TMAN) this year. This network is a means of connecting with the UK's industrial and academic knowledge base through NPL. Combining the best of NPL's Temperature and Thermophysical Properties Awareness Club and Humidity Club, it considers all aspects of temperature, humidity and thermophysical property measurement.

The network is for anyone with an interest in thermal measurements - manufacturers, users and researchers. It is estimated that 60% of all UK industry makes use of temperature or humidity measurements at some point; TMAN aims to connect these industrial thermal engineers and designers and NPL.

It will encourage collaborations, information flow and facilitate resources to enable innovative thermal solutions to common problems. TMAN is free to join, but it does need information from its members: it can only help solve problems if it knows what they are, emphasised NPL.

The members' information will be used to decide activities designed to help arrive at the solutions, such as seminars, training courses and guidelines. Payment for these activities will be on an event basis - members only pay for the meetings they attend.

For further information, contact NPL's Colin MacKechnie at: colin.mackechnie@npl.co.uk
