SACMI Group Creates Technical Ceramics Division

Sacmi Group (Imola, BO, Italy) has announced the start-up of a new division especially dedicated to the field of advanced materials including technical ceramics. The new division is called 'TEAM' which stands for: Technology and Experience for Advanced Materials.

A group spokesperson said that by coordinating the activities of the different companies for complete production lines, TEAM offered an additional value to the customers providing a much wider range of delivery scope and services.

TEAM integrates the cumulative know-how and expertise, innovative skill and technology of leading companies in the design and construction of ceramic production plants: • SACMI (Imola, Italy) – material preparation, plant engineering, financing. • SAMA (Weissenstadt, Germany) – shaping technologies such as extrusion, pressure casting, tape casting and automation. • LAEIS (Wecker, Luxembourg) – material and process development, hydraulic pressing technology. • RIEDHAMMER (Nürnberg, Germany) – drying and firing technologies.

Sacmi added that the move meant that cutting-edge technical ceramic production process synergy – from raw material preparation to shaping and firing with precision quality control at every stage of production – could now be achieved by the group thanks to TEAM. Outstanding R&D facilities are at TEAM's disposal to assist with material development and process optimisation.

For complete plants and production lines, the group's scope of supply covers a wide range of various types of machinery, offering each customer the best technical and economical solution for a given task. For the supply of single machines, the individual companies will continue to act independently.

The Sacmi Group is the biggest supplier of production equipment for the ceramic industry with a total turnover of over €1 billion and more than 3,500 employees.
