The 21st TBE Congress in Budapest


The new millennium's first congress of the TBE (the European Brick & Tile Makers Association) will be organised by the Hungarian Brick & Tile Association and will take place in Budapest from 4-6 October 2001.

The congress, TBE's 21st such event, starts with the General Assembly followed by a gala on the Danube. 'Preparing the Hungarian Economy for Joining the European Union' by the Hungarian Minister of Economy Dr Gyorgy Matolcsy and 'Past and Present Traditional Building Materials' delivered by the architect Imre Makovecz will be the following morning's main presentations.

In the afternoon of 5 October, delegates will be able to choose from:

  • 'Green Building Challenge' by Dr Manfred Bruck
  • 'Minergie Concept' by Dr Ruedi Kriesi
  • 'Clay Roofing Tiles and Photovoltaic Technology' by Dipl-Ing Heinz Zanger
  • 'Using Total Quality Management in a Hungarian Company that won First Prize in Europe' by Dipl-Ing Imre Sebok of Burton-Apta Kft.


  • Simultaneous translations will be available in English, French, German, Italian and Hungarian.

    A gala concludes the official part of the congress. For the Saturday, the organisers have put together a selection of optional excursions.
