4th Tiles of Spain Awards Competition Announced

The Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers' Association (ASCER) has announced the next Tile of Spain Awards for Architecture, Interior Design, Degree Projects and Journalism competition. This will be the fourth year that the competition has been held and its objective is to promote awareness and use of ceramic tiles from Spain in the fields of architecture and interior design both in the home market and internationally.

According to the judges - headed by Patxi Mangado - the status of the awards has grown significantly as the projects entered in the competition have increased in quality year after year, as has the prestige and professional standing of the candidates.

One need go no further to prove this, added the judges, than the two winning projects in the architecture category last year: the refurbishment of the Santa Caterina market in Barcelona (by Eric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue) and the Peniscola Conference Centre (by Angela Garcia Pardes and Ignacio Garcia Pedrosa).

The competition is open to professional architects, interior designers, technical architects, landscape architects and interior designers of all nationalities. The one prerequisite is that the work - whether undertaken in Spain or anywhere else in the world - must have used ceramic tiles from Spain.
