SCI Engineered Materials Gets ISO 9001 Registration

Superconductive Components Inc (Columbus, OH, USA) - a manufacturer of ceramics and metals for advanced applications in batteries, optical and high temperature superconductive and non-superconductive products - has announced that SCI Engineered Materials, an operating unit of the company, has achieved ISO 9001:2000 registration for the production and sale of complex physical vapour deposition (PVD) materials and targets.

Dan Rooner, Chairman, President and CEO, said: "Consistent with our growth strategy and commitment to quality operations, efforts were initiated during the fourth quarter of 2004 to attain ISO 9001:2000 registration. We anticipate this registration will contribute to expanded business opportunities that could not previously be pursued. Many of our customers recognize the importance of ISO approved practices and a growing number of them are requiring this registration from their suppliers.

"In addition to benefitting our current business, we believe that several commercial applications being pursued by Thin Film Battery manufacturers will require SCI, an integral part of their supply chain, to have well documented quality systems that can be audited by independent third parties."
