Italian Ceramic Machinery Association Announces Quality Mark

Acimac (Italian Ceramic Plant & Machinery Manufacturers' Association) and TUV Italia signed a memorandum of understanding on 25 May 2004 for cooperation on the 'Acimac Quality Mark' project to certify the quality and reliability of Italian ceramic machinery and technology.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Managing Director of TUV Italia, Roberto Majocchi, and Acimac Chairman Designate, Pierluigi Ponzoni, who takes up his position on 11 June 2004.

Sig Ponzoni commented: "Italian ceramic production technology is already the world leader in terms of quality, reliability and innovative content, aspects that are recognised by customers in all markets. However, we aim to improve on this by having these contents validated by one of the most accredited independent third-party bodies in the world.

"The Acimac Quality Mark is a voluntary certification that our member companies can obtain for their machinery if TUV Italia establishes that they meet the quality requirements deemed essential. In spite of the very stringent nature of these requirements, I am confident that the majority of our companies will have no difficulty in meeting them, particularly the many companies that already have Quality Systems like ISO and Vision 2000."
