'Diamondback' Technology for Orthos

Orthos (Engineering) has been awarded the European agency for J R Johanson Inc of California. Orthos, which has enjoyed a loose association with Johanson for some years, will now offer the complete range of 'Diamondback Technology' equipment for use in the handling of bulk particulate solids. Orthos reports that the new agency fits very advantageously with its existing activities in the processing, monitoring and automatic sampling of bulk solids.

J R Johanson was founded by its current President and CEO, Dr Jerry Johanson. He has been active in the field of bulk solids flow since 1962 and partnered Dr Andrew Jenike in 1966 to form Jenike & Johanson Inc. He became President of that company in 1979 and remained as such until 1985, when he left to form his own consultancy business.

The company has developed a range of DiamondbackTM hoppers and ancillary equipment designed to combat effectively the many problems associated with the handling of loose bulk solids; problems such as bin hang-ups, arch formation, rat-holing, compaction, product degradation, flushing and so on.

DiamondbackTM arch-breaking hoppers are backed up by a wide range of ancillary equipment, including air permeation systems, anti-segregation chutes and baffles, de-aeration devices, feeder interfaces, transition pieces, in-bin blending cylinders, off-set cone blenders and speciality hoppers custom-designed to match individual problems.
