Nabaltec Improves Consolidated Revenue By Nearly 25%


Nabaltec AG (Schwandorf, Germany), a leading supplier of mineral based flame retardants and raw materials for technical ceramics, has published its business figures for the first quarter of 2008, which were prepared based on IFRS for the first time. Consolidated revenue managed to be improved by 24.5% to €25.4 million (Q1/2007: €20.4 million).

Growth in both business divisions was achieved: ‘Functional Fillers’ earned €17.2 million in the reporting period after €13.2 million in the previous year’s period, representing a 30.3% increase; while ‘Technical Ceramics’ registered a gain of 13.9% to €8.2 million (Q1/2007: €7.2 million).

Nabaltec's earnings likewise developed highly positively in the first quarter of 2008. EBITDA increased from €2.4 million to €2.9 million. Less depreciation, EBIT reached €1.7 million, thus exceeding the previous year's value of €1.2 million. Finally, earnings after minority interests for the period reached €0.8 million after €1.0 million in the first quarter of 2007.

Gerhard Witzany, Member of the Management Board of Nabaltec AG said: "The positive course of business in the first three months of 2008 shows that our company grows consistently. This performance should continue through the further course of the year”.

For the year as a whole, the company anticipates consolidated revenue of approximately €110 million and a sharp improvement in consolidated earnings. Investments in Schwandorf of over €35 million are also planned for 2008. Nabaltec intends to invest a total of over €60 million in further company growth by 2010. A financing agreement has already been successfully concluded to meet the capital requirement not covered by equity.
