Italian Ceramic Machinery in China

From 16-18 June 2004, fifteen Italian ceramic machinery manufacturing companies will be taking part in the 18th Ceramics China, the largest exhibition in Asia devoted to ceramic technology. The event is being held in Guangzhou (Guangdong Province), home to around two-thirds of the several thousand Chinese ceramic companies. According to figures from Acimac and ICE, some 3,500 companies operate in tile and sanitaryware manufacture, for instance.

The Italian companies are being accommodated in a pavilion organised by ICE and Acimac; the pavilion will cover around 1,400 square metres. The group includes Sacmi, Barbieri & Tarozzi, System, Welko and LB Officine Meccaniche which have had production facilities and/or sales offices in the Chinese market for several years now. The pavilion will also host Air Power Group, Assoprint, Camattini, Colorobbia Group, Ipa International, MCM, Sampla Belting, Surface Inspection, TSC and Tyrolit Vincent.

Since 1993, China has been the world's largest manufacturer in the fields served by these Italian companies. Annual production now stands at about 1.9 billion square metres of tiles and 60 million pieces of sanitaryware. Over the past decade, the number of ceramic companies has increased at a rate of 30% a year.
