Indian Refractories News


IRMA, the Indian Refractories Manufacturers' Association has announced that with the resignation of V P Sood as Deputy Chairman due to other pressing commitments, P Bajoria, a Director of IFGL Refractories Ltd, has been elected as Deputy Chairman of the Association.

IRMA now comprises 45 member companies and 14 associate members and, in just the past year, has welcomed to the membership Associated Ceramics Ltd, Geeta Refractories Pvt Ltd, Hi-Tech Chemicals Pvt Ltd, Koromondal Refractories Pvt Ltd, Natasha Consultancy & Ceramic Services, Pavri Kyanite Mines and Raj Refractories.

IRMA said that refractory exports maintained their growth path, rising from Rs 128 crore in 2002-2003 to Rs 150 crore in 2004-2005.

The Annual IRMA award of citations and plaques for the year 2003-2004 to senior ceramic scientists for lifetime service were presented to Prof F D Gnanam, former Head of the Department of Ceramic Engineering, Anna University, Chennai, in token of appreciation for his contributions to the spread of ceramic education in India and to Dr E C Subbarao, Chief Consulting Adviser, Tata Consultancy Services, Pune, as a token of appreciation for his outstanding contribution to research and development in the ceramics and materials sciences.
