Indian Refractories Production and Sales Comparisons

The Indian Refractory Makers Association (IRMA) has commented on the latest review of production and sales trends.

The production and sales trends reported by a cross section of IRMA member companies for the period April 2005 to September 2005, as compared to the period October 2004 to March 2005, showed the following:

(a) Fireclay refractories saw production down by 15.52% and sales down by 8.46%.

(b) High Alumina refractories saw production down by 20.51% and sales down by 17.10%.

(c) Silica refractories saw production increase by 42.88% and sales increase by 77.94%.

(d) Basic refractories saw production down by 9.16% and sales down by 9.06%.

(e) Speciality refractories saw production down by 7.91% and sales increase by 14.41%.

IRMA said that it can be seen that the production of aluminosilicate refractories is diminishing and the sales value decreasing more than the basic refractories and speciality products due to decline in the growth of sponge iron and non-recovery coke ovens.
