HITCO Delivers 100th Tailcone Structure to Boeing

The Boeing Company and HITCO Carbon Composites Inc - part of the German SGL Carbon Group - celebrated HITCO's delivery of the 100th large composite tailcone structure for the C-17 Globemaster III transport plane on 30 May 2002 at HITCO's Gardena site in California.

Local dignitaries, government personnel and representatives from both companies - as well as all 237 HITCO employees - celebrated the award presented to the company by Boeing for outstanding quality and service.

"The C-17 Globemaster III is the world's most versatile airlifter that serves our troops and allies on difficult missions to the remotest corners of the world," said HITCO President, Paul Pendorf. "We at HITCO are proud to participate in the C-17 program by producing the large composite tailcone structure of the airplane for Boeing. Receiving this award validates our continuing long-term position as a 'key supplier' to Boeing for this and other aircraft structures that we produce for them."

Founded in 1922, HITCO is an innovative leader in the advancement of carbon composite technologies.

SGL Carbon Group has four principal business areas: Carbon and Graphite (CG); Graphite Specialties (GS); Corrosion Protection (CP); and SGL Technologies, which comprises the growth businesses of the company such as high performance carbon-ceramic brake discs and fuel cell components.
