Wienerberger Opens Largest Brick Plant in Czech Republic

Wienerberger cihelna Jezernice spol s.r.o., a wholly owned subsidiary of
Wienerberger AG (Vienna, Austria), opened the largest and most modern brick
plant in the Czech Republic on 10 June 2005. "The plant in Jezernice gives
us a high-performance production facility in North Moravia, which will allow
us to supply this up-and-coming region directly with our high-quality
POROTHERM bricks," commented Johann Windisch, member of the Managing Board
of Wienerberger AG for the Central-East and Central-West Europe segments at
the inaugural celebration for this newly constructed plant.

In the past, markets in North Moravia have been supplied from the Kunin
plant, which was acquired in 2004, or from Wienerberger facilities in East
Bohemia and South Moravia.

The Jezernice plant was completed in record time, with first test operations
running in February 2005 only 10 months after the start of construction.
The plant has been operating at full capacity since May 2005. The total
capacity is 160 million brick units per year. A new 'fast drying kiln' is used at
Jezernice, which will reduce drying time to a minimum. This technology will
have a positive effect on both product quality and production costs.

The investment for the project totalled 710 million Czech Crowns, roughly
equivalent to 23.5 million. Together with this new factory, Wienerberger
now operates 12 brick plants and one girder plant in the Czech Republic.

Johann Windisch added: "The Czech Republic has become one of the most
important markets for Wienerberger in Central and Eastern Europe during
recent years. On the one side, bricks are very popular as a building
material for walls and, on the other side, forecasts for residential
construction are positive. An ideal basis for us to continue our strategy
for steady and profitable growth in the coming years."
