Customers to Benefit from Reduced Lead Times on Complex CNC Parts

European rapid product development specialist ARRK Product Development Group Ltd (Gloucester, England) has recently increased its in-house CNC capacity with the purchase of a new CNC DMU 50V five-axis machine.

Working in conjunction with ARRK's existing machines, the new five-axis machine will reduce set-up and cutting times for parts with more complex geometries. The machine is fitted with a laser tool profile checker and uses G2.5 balanced hydraulic tool holders to maintain part accuracy.

A touch probe is also fitted to reduce set-up times and allow inspection of the parts on the machine. With its high speed spindle and rapid table movement (1G acceleration), ARRK says the new machine will give customers shorter lead times on more complex parts.

Having taken delivery of the new machine in early May, ARRK Gloucester's CNC Manager Tim Klemz has worked methodically with his team to ensure that they get the machine quickly up to speed. Set-up trials have taken place and gone successfully during its installation period, resulting in it now being brought fully on line.

With a list price of £140,000, ARRK believes its investment in this technology will allow it to offer its customers significant advantages in the range of jobs it can undertake, as well as improving delivery timescales.
