New castable-machinable ceramic

Cera-FabTM 635, a new advanced castable and machinable ceramic produced by Aremco Products Inc (Valley Cottage, NY, USA), is now available to produce brazing tools and heat treating fixtures used in applications to 2100oF.

Aremco’s Cera-FabTM 635 is a two-part, high temperature, ceramic moulding compound formulated using an alumino-silicate ceramic powder combined with a liquid activator. This composition is ideal for producing complex, high strength, electrically insulative fixtures and tools for applications to 2100oF.

It is an easy to use moulding compound. Mixed in a ratio of 100 parts powder to 80 parts liquid, it is ready for machining with conventional high speed steel tools after drying for 24 hours and curing at 200oF for an additional 2 hours. After machining, full strength can be achieved by sintering up to 1800oF for 24 hours.

Aremco also formulates a broad range of ceramic-based casting and potting compounds based on alumina, magnesia, silica, zirconia and silicon carbide. These materials offer unique properties with respect to operating temperature, dielectric strength, thermal conductivity and mechanical strength.
