Cancarb and Nordmann, Rassmann Announce New Thermax® Distribution Partnership
Cancarb Ltd and Nordmann, Rassmann GmbH (known as NRC) have announced a new partnership for the distribution of Cancarb's Thermax® brand Thermal Carbon Black products in Germany and Austria, effective 1 September 2007.
“There is extremely good alignment between the values and business philosophies of Cancarb and NRC,” remarked David Carmichael, President of Cancarb. “We look forward to an open and collaborative relationship with NRC that will allow us to serve existing customers better and help others improve their products with Thermax®.”
“Cancarb's medium thermal carbon black is a premium line of products that complements our existing portfolio of specialty polymers very well,” said Edgar Nordmann. “This versatile carbon black also allows us to focus on important business in non-rubber sectors where we can bring value added solutions to Thermax® customers in metallurgy, ceramics, composites and other industries.”
Thermax® carbon black can improve performance of monolithic, castable, carbon brick and basic carbon brick refractories. It can enhance resistance to thermal shock, heat, chemicals and active slag, increase refractory density and improve in-situ carbide formation. Castables containing Thermax® reportedly require less water to reach normal casting flow, resulting in higher density and less porosity.
The particle size distribution and chemical purity of Thermax® is said to make it an excellent product for porosity control in ceramics manufacturing. It can also serve as a high purity reducing agent in making products such as titanium diboride. Thermax® is also an ideal choice for insulation of high temperature kilns and furnaces.
