5-Axis Master Class

Delcam, a leading developer and supplier of CAD/CAM software for the three dimensional design, manufacture and inspection of complex shapes, will stage a five-axis Master Class in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England on the 2nd and 3rd July 2002. Delcam's products are used world-wide by more than 3,500 organisations in over 50 countries, in a huge range of applications - from conceptual design to pattern making, tool making and component machining for a variety of sectors which include automotive, aerospace, plastics, ceramics, rubber, glass and packaging industries.

Five-axis machining has been used in aerospace applications for many years but it is only recently that this interest has spread to other engineering industries. The main advantage of five-axis machining is the ability to save time by machining complex shapes in a single set-up. Additional benefits come from allowing the use of shorter cutters that permit more accurate machining.

Positional five-axis machining has been long available with Delcam's PowerMILL. With this technique, the head is oriented into a series of positions and machining carried out as a set of discreet operations.

In addition, PowerMILL now offers continuous five-axis machining. This approach allows the user to create continuous five-axis toolpaths across complex solid surface and triangulated models. PowerMILL supports a wide range of machining strategies, with the full range of tool types.

These sessions will provide a brief overview of all the five-axis machining functionality in PowerMILL. They will include live machining demonstrations of a complex part on a DMG Evolution machine tool. Delegates will also be able to put any questions to Delcam's staff.

Registration is possible on-line at: www.delcam.co.uk
