CSR Building Products Applies for Clearance to Acquire Assets of Ross Roofing
Announced 3 July 2008, The Commerce Commission in New Zealand said it had received an application from CSR Building Products seeking clearance to acquire the Ross Roofing, Rosscrete Roofing Tiles and the Ross Brick & Pavers businesses of the Ross group of companies.

Hanson Takes Delivery of New Sennebogen 180-tonne Dragline
Hanson Building Products has recently taken delivery of a new Sennebogen 6180HD Electric 180 tonne Dragline. Supplied by the Sennebogen UK distributor, E H Hassell (Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, England), this is one of the biggest draglines sold in the UK for some years.

Rio Tinto Alcan Moves Towards Australian Bauxite Expansion
Rio Tinto has approved a US$30 million feasibility study to develop a new bauxite operation to the south of the existing Weipa bauxite mine and port. This is the first step towards significantly expanding Rio Tinto's operations at Weipa in Cape York, Queensland, Australia.

Minerals Technologies Inc (New York, USA) announced on 7 July 2008 that its wholly owned subsidiary Barretts Minerals Inc had decided to increase prices for Barretts, Montana, talc by between 8% to 10% depending on product. This increase will be effective 1 August 2008, or as permitted by contract.
