Ceramic Coating Used to Seal Thermal Spray Coatings

Aremco Products Inc (Valley Cottage, NY, USA) has launched Ceramacoat 503-VFG-S, described as a new high temperature, ceramic-based sealant used to fill the microporosity in various thermal spray coatings. This advanced sealant is formulated as a single part, water dispersible, alumina-filled system. It is an inert, chemically resistant, inorganic material that will not, says Aremco, outgas or decompose in high temperature corrosive applications to 1760°C.

The product is applied using a sponge brush or pneumatic spray equipment. Upon application it can be ramped rapidly to elevated temperatures. A full cure is achieved after exposure for 1-2 hours at 370°C. The product further sinters and strengthens as it is exposed to temperatures above 535°C.

It is available from stock in pint, quart, gallon and five-gallon (US) drums. Product density is approximately 17.5 pounds per gallon (US).
