Continued Growth at Siam Cement Group
SCG - The Siam Cement Group (Bangkok, Thailand) - whose many interests include the manufacture of building ceramics, has cited strong performance in announcing its results for the second quarter of 2004. Mr Chumpol NaLamlieng, President of Siam Cement Public Co Ltd, disclosed the unreviewed consolidated financial statements for SCC and subsidiaries for Q2 2004 which showed total sales of 45.006 billion Baht, representing a 25% increase over the same period in 2003.
On a quarterly basis, SCC and subsidiaries recorded a net profit of 7.742 billion Baht, an increase of 117% over Q2 2003, due to strong performances in most business units. For the first half of the year, sales were 89.367 billion Baht, up 23%. Net profit was 15.097 billion Baht, up 66%.
The Building Products Business - smallest of the five, the others being Petrochemicals, Distribution, Cement and Paper & Packaging - recorded total sales for Q2 2004 of 5.13 billion Baht, an increase of 19% over Q2 2003. The increase was as a result of strong sales of roofing products and ceramic tiles nationwide.
Unreviewed total assets of SCC and subsidiaries as of 30 June 2004 amounted to 257.72 billion Baht, an increase of 7.994 billion Baht from year ended 2003.
