Yageo Maintains Sales Levels

Yageo Corporation (Hsin Tien, Taipei) has announced that its world-wide June net sales reached NT$1.734 billion with a 6% year-on-year (y-o-y) growth, maintaining the same level as the previous month. The healthy June sales were led by the moderate growth of the end market without impact caused by seasonal adjustment and half-year inventory taking.

For the third quarter, the company said it looked forward to a more optimistic demand from customers in what is traditionally a peak season.

Second quarter sales amounted to NT$5.350 billion, reflecting a 4% growth from the previous quarter and a 9% y-o-y growth to set a second highest figure in six years. Accumulated sales from January to June were NT$10.459 billion, an increase of 8% compared to the same period in 2006.

The China region reported sales of NT$726 million, a 6% increase from the prior quarter and up 33% y-o-y. Taiwan and Asia Pacific (AP) areas posted NT$361 million net sales. Europe and NAFTA combined accounted for sales totalling NT$499 million. Compostar and Chipcera collectively generated NT$148 million, up 4% month-on-month.

In chip resistors, Yageo now has the world's largest production capacity at around 24.5 billion units/month, almost one-third of the global market. The corporation also has the world's third largest MLCC (multi-layer ceramic
capacitor) capacity at 14.5 billion units/month, on a par with TDK and ranking behind only Murata and Taiyo Yuden. In the ferrites field, annual global production of 13,000 tons puts Yageo in second place, behind TDK.
