Independent technology company for Optical Particle Analysis

Retsch GmbH & Co KG (Haan, Germany) has hived off the previous Retsch Technology division as an independent business in the legal form of a limited liability company (GmbH). The new company is, like Retsch, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Verder. Dr Jrgen Pankratz has been appointed as managing director. Retsch Technology emerges from a profit centre of Retsch GmbH & Co KG that was launched in 1998. Retsch Technology is predominantly active in the development and marketing of particle sizing instruments.

Dr Pankratz said: "Our business operations are focusing on optical particle analysis, a field where we have been closely collaborating with Jenoptik AG since 1997". The high-quality product segment of Retsch Technology extends the marketing range of Retsch GmbH & Co KG - classical laboratory devices for sampling preparation and analysis of dry powders and granules.

With the particle analysers CAMSIZER and CRYSTALSIZER, Retsch Technology says it provides innovative products which operate with unique optical measuring principles. These products permit a fast and accurate analysis of particle size and shape of powders, granulates and bulk materials in the grain size range from 0.7m to 30mm. The successes achieved since market introduction in early 1999 have shown, says the company, that the devices meet the high demands of industrial applications as regards robustness, operability and documentation of findings.

"Our major current target is the creation of international distribution structures," says Dr Pankratz. "We will gradually develop a global network in order to provide competent and extensive consultancy and care to our clients. Respective arrangements have already been made for Western Europe and America."
