New Mini Ceramic SMD Resonators Are 78% Smaller
AVX Corporation has recently announced the expansion of its PBRC family of surface mount ceramic resonators. The PBRC/PBRV MR series of miniature ceramic SMD resonators offer built-in load capacitors in a 4.5mm x 2mm x 1.2mm package, 78% smaller in volume than the current series.
Available in temperature ranges suitable for both consumer and automotive applications, the new series offers a frequency tolerance of 1.3% overall with initial tolerance, temperature stability and 10-year aging and a fundamental oscillation mode of up to 20MHz. Applications include consumer products such as appliances, audio and entertainment equipment. The devices are also suitable for automotive applications such as ABS and air bags.
These new ultra miniature resonators enable significant size reduction for such space constrained applications as reference clocks on microcontrollers. The options in operating temperature are said to make this a highly flexible product.
