Association's Survey on Product On-Site Risk Underway
Following February's construction industry Health and Safety Summit, the Construction Products Association, in partnership with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), is undertaking a construction site survey to identify on-site risks associated with materials and products.
Commenting on the survey, John Tebbit, the Association's Industry Affairs Director, said: "HSE has no current data that allows identification of products related risks. The information that this survey will provide, therefore, is vital for the future development of construction products and the way in which they are delivered and used on site. The findings will be incorporated in the Association's presentation to the next Safety Summit, which is planned for 18 October."
The survey will be split into two phases:
- Phase 1 will focus on five materials - three from the heavy side and two from the light side and, for each material, a member company has identified a number of sites where the material is being used.
- Phase 2 will focus on site types, e.g. house building, road construction, office refurbishment.
