Wear Market Situation Slowed Down Growth and Decreased Profitability at Okmetic

Due to the highly weakened market situation in the semiconductor industry, growth in Okmetic Group's turnover during January-June 2001 was slower than foreseen. Okmetic is a rapidly growing high-tech company which manufactures silicon wafers and other products based on silicon and it markets these products to semiconductor and sensor industries world-wide.

The (by now) already solved technical problems at the Vantaa plant in Finland at the end of June postponed a significant amount of deliveries for July. Therefore, the turnover for June remained especially low.

The group still believes that the second quarter will remain the weakest and that growth in the market will start during the third quarter 2001. The group predicts that profits for the whole year will remain lower than last year.

The company operates manufacturing plants at Vantaa in Finland and Allen in North America.
