Ceramics, Marble & Stone China 2002

Organiser Worldwide Exhibitions Service Co Ltd (Shanghai, PR China) has announced that Ceramics, Marble & Stone China 2002 will take place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 21-24 May 2002.

As a backdrop to the show, the organiser states that China's economy will enter into sustainable high-speed development in the 21st century. It adds that authorised statistics show that GDP is up to more than US$1,000 billion in 2000, an 8% increase over 1999. It says that China's economy is ranked No 7 in the world, with storage of US$158 billion foreign currency and with the amount of import and export hitting US$400 billion.

As part of this overall picture, the total building and construction industry is predicted to grow much faster - by 12% annually - to meet increasing demand for residential housing and other buildings in cities and towns.

Reportedly, the urban residential housing will increase by 0.5 billion sq.m. annually. Currently, 2.9 billion sq.m. of urban housing needs redecoration and renovation to varying degrees. The annual demand for house decoration amounts to US$13.3 billion.

The full range of ceramic building components - for use both inside and out - are expected to play a major part in this exhibition. The organiser is hoping for 100,000 visitors.
