Optimising Dry Powder Processing

Malvern Instruments has made a number of modifications to its Insitec in-process particle size analyser, designed to ensure its compatibility for use in GMP production facilities.

The Insitec system is used to optimise dry powder processing facilities such as air jet mills, by monitoring the particle size distribution on-line.

The new Insitec/T (Triclamp) is intended to meet the particular needs of various industries. The system is said to retain the robustness and high performance of the standard Insitec instrument, but uses tri-clamping for quick and easy cleaning and is constructed from materials that are acceptable for cleanroom use - 316L stainless steel for example.

There is also a sophisticated new automation package which can be used for the automation of particulate conveying to the instrument, connectivity to a wide range of PLCs an full integration into various Distributed Control Systems for detailed data/instrument status reporting. Malvern Link also provides improved flexibility in customising the measuring system to meet the needs of individual users and allows simplified user interfaces to be created.
