Pyrometry - up to now has been shrouded in mystery

Up to now, pyrometry (that is, measuring the temperature of an object without touching it) has been shrouded in mystery.

IMPAC Infrared Ltd has taken up the challenge to change this. The new portable and versatile Infratherm IN15 makes non-contact temperature measurement simple, it has a lot of built-in know-how and is consequently ergonomically designed.

Aim, Shoot, Read. That's all you need to do and you have the temperature of your object. The value can easily be read on the large, clear display. Regardless of whether you want to measure plastics, paper, wood, liquids, food, paint, ceramics, or bricks, so long as the surface is not metallic, you can measure the temperature. You will be aided by the integrated Laser Pilot-light, which shows you precisely which part of your object is measured at the time. It is easily visible, even on dark material, because the engineers have used a special technique: the laser blinks with a frequency that catches the attention of the human eye due to a special physiological effect.

The Infratherm IN15 is especially designed for fast temperature measurements of moving objects. E.g. in the production of plastic films, paper, roofing felt, etc. Up to 7 readings per second can be made. A short and quick scan over the whole product width is enough to show the status of the production: the maximum and minimum values are automatically measured and stored. Temperature peaks in the product can easily be detected as well as areas that are too cold.

The built-in memory stores up to 250 measuring values and the time when they were taken. After finishing the measuring exercise, all stored values can be transferred to a pc and evaluated with the software PortaWin. This method enables you to receive quickly an overview of the production parameter "Temperature&wuot;. The optics have been designed so that even small objects can be measured from greater distances. The spot size diameter at a distance of 1000mm is only 20mm. In combination with the short response time, fast product temperature checks can be made just by quickly scanning over the object and reading the maximum temperature from the display.
