Low Cost Rheometer
Brookfield Viscometers Ltd (West Harlow, Essex, England) has introduced what it hails as a revolutionary new instrument for QC applications. The Brookfield YR-1 Yield Test Rheometer is described as a simple to use, low cost alternative to complicated, full featured laboratory instruments - but with traditional Brookfield quality.
Designed to be used in the laboratory or on the production floor, the YR-1 is simple to use. The operator just selects a test using the 'EZ-Yield' software, lowers the vane spindle into the product and presses 'go' and the result is displayed as a single shear stress number.
Brookfield added: "The YR-1 provides excellent repeatability, allowing manufacturers of difficult products such as ketchup, dressings or even concrete, to accurately determine the optimum shear stress number for their product's yield value".
