Galassia Sets Up UK Company

Galassia SpA (Corchiano, Italy), the sanitaryware producer, has announced the launch of a new distribution branch in the UK, Galassia (UK) Ltd, which represents a further step in the internationalisation process of the company, following the opening of Galassia Hispania SA in 2001.

The company said that the move would reaffirm Galassia as a leading forerunner of Italian Bathroom Design in international markets. As part of a wider programme of expansion by the company, this new UK branch will not only be supported by the outstanding quality of its products and collections, but also by a proven entrepreneurial ability – which Galassia said was the company’s trademark.

Galassia (UK) Ltd, with a capital stock of £300,000, is based in Bramley, Leeds, West Yorkshire. Galassia pointed up as important factors the fact that the UK benefits from low inflation and unemployment rates with its GDP reaching over one trillion dollars. Together with the company’s outstanding results achieved in the UK, this led Galassia to establish a leading position in the territory, it said.

Therefore, the Brand Galassia expanded into a new market segment that differs from the Italian and European ones, a market that is showing continuous appreciation for the company’s products and collections, and has contributed to the steady growth of the company’s turnover.

Galassia UK is formed by the Managing Director Marta Ceccarelli, the Operation Manager Maz Mazar, Rami Hamze and Albo Francesconi as Non-Executive Director. The team is consolidated by the presence of commercial agents, who are responsible for the growth of the client network.

Galassia started up production in 1980 and has two plants in Italy on a covered area totalling 37,000 square metres. It manufactures fine fireclay and vitreous china sanitaryware with 175 employees.  The company sells 60% in Italy and exports 40%.
