Bulgarian Tile Manufacturer Forges Ahead

Bulgaria's biggest ceramic tile manufacturer, the Khan Asparuh Group, is expanding operations on all fronts. Its new floor tile production plant at its Isperih-based factories is already up and running and with the new Sacmi supplied plant is set to boost output by 2.5 million sq.m. per year.

Later in the year, in September, another Sacmi supplied line for the production of porcelain tiles will come on line. By the end of 2005, these new production lines will have raised total group output to 50,000 sq.m. per day while at the same time providing Khan Asparuh with a comprehensive tile offering, ranging from 3cm x 3cm mosaic tiles to 40cm by 40cm porcelain tiles and third-fired articles.

Thanks to new investments, the company has strengthened its hold on the Bulgarian market and now has 250 sales outlets and a distribution network with warehouses in all of the country's 10 major cities. Plans are also under way for two new plants to be situated outside Bulgaria, producing 2.5 million sq.m. per year.

Half of the company's production is exported, mostly to Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Romania and to the ex-Yugoslavian countries.
