'Idea on the Table' from Leading Dutch Centre

The European Ceramic Work Centre ('s-Hertogenbosch, Holland) - an international workshop for ceramic visual art and design - has asked designers to develop ideas during a work period at EKWC and during the course of two workshops at Mosa Porselein; with the work being on porcelain items for the professional market. An expert committee comprising Belgian former chef Leon Ribbens, restaurateur Rita Fagel, Marjan Unger from the Sandberg Institute and Guus Ros from Eden advised the designers on the basis of their different backgrounds.

In this new approach, different media experience was brought to bear: only one designer, Jan Broekstra, was an original ceramic designer. The other five had never worked with clay before.

The results of the design project - 'Idee op tafel' (Idea on the Table) - have already been shown at Galerie Binnen in Amsterdam and during the Salone del Mobile in Milan. Part of the exhibition has also been on show during Via Milano at Societeit Baby in Amsterdam. The ceramic prototypes by the six designers are now on display at Galerie Yksi in Eindhoven.

The project is a collaboration between EKWC and the designers. It is supported by Mosa Porselein, Galerie Binnen and Hidden BV.
