Keller HCW Develops Universal Cutter and Chamfering Device

Continuously working cutters, where products are cut continuously from an extruded clay column, are part of the traditional range of products available from Keller HCW GmbH (Ibbenbueren-Laggenbeck, Germany).

The company's 'Universal' type cutter has now been further developed by using improved converter technology. Therefore, for any cutting length the optimum curve can be downloaded from the control system.

Vertical cutting with three wires has been modified to lateral cutting with five wires.

The company says that the advantages are short clamping length of wires and simplification of the electron cam disc (only one synchronising time for the cutting process). Table or wire lifting devices are no longer required.

Further highlights of the machine, designated the Universal Cutter Type 'S' are:

· patented wire suspension which allows alternating cutting and increases the wire down-time.

· no alternate bends in the wire.

· clay column adjustment by spindle adjustment.

· optimised wire attachment for short down-time in case of wire change.

· divided drive base frame (simple exchange of cutting tables).

· electronic adjustment of wire inclination from 0° – 25°.

· system for exchanging the complete cutting table and the chamfering device.

The cutter has been designed for clay column widths of 150mm to 500mm, for clay column heights of 50mm to 200mm and for cutting lengths of 7 x 20mm to 5 x 100mm. The output in the case of a clay column width of 300mm and 5 wires is 12,000 pieces per hour. The maximum output is 15,000 pieces per hour.
