Renovation of the Chlumcanske Keramicke Zavody S1 Plant

Chlumcanske Keramicke Zavody, the Czech tilemaker which is part of the Lasselsberger Group, has replaced an old PH1400 tile press and a vertical dryer with machines of more modern design, representing another step forwards in the renewal of its first porcelain tile production line, originally supplied back in 1990.

The plant now features a PH2890 press with SPE electronic lift and an ECP285, 11.3-metre, five-layer dryer - all from SACMI of Imola. Final tests were carried out in February 2003 to the customer's complete satisfaction.

Lasselsberger Group also owns the Rako ceramic company (taken over in 2002) and decided to integrate the three companies of Rako, Keramika Horni Briza and Chlumcany. A technical coordination team and a centralised purchasing office for the three ceramic companies will be based at the main group offices in Plzen.

Two technical management teams will also be created: one called NORTH which will take in all the Rako and Horni Briza plants; and one called SOUTH which will include all the Chlumcany plants.
