Chilean Tile Producer Puts In New Production Line

Ceramicas Cordillera SA (Quilicura, Santiago, Chile) has decided to expand operations at its tile plant by purchasing a modern Sacmi production line. This new plant will produce about 3 million square metres per annum of single fired floor tile and glazed porcelain tile, including large sizes, for both the home and export markets.

The production line - which will be characterised by a high degree of automation - will include a continuous MTC070 mill with alumina grinding media, an ATM90 lance-type spray dryer, two PH3590 presses and two 5-level ECP 285 horizontal dryers.

Ceramicas Cordillera is Chile's leading manufacturer of wall and floor tiles. It belongs to the Pizarreno Group, headed by the multinational Etex.
