BSI Announces Environment Management Report

BSI has introduced 'Environment Management Report: Trends and Best Practice in Waste Management' which uses examples and case studies to show how effective waste management benefits business. The report gives clear and practical advice on how to identify areas of waste and how to implement simple operational procedures to reduce and control it. The authors (Yoxon, Burley and Gladding) guide the reader through the relevant legislation and provide the tools and techniques to unlock the benefits for your business, the wider economy and the environment.

Mark Yoxon has over 25 years' worldwide experience as a trainer, conference organiser and speaker, and as an author and broadcaster on environmental management, facilitation and stakeholder dialogue. He has worked with numerous organisations from small businesses and local authorities to EU policy initiatives and was a member of the Management Charter Initiative (MCI) working group which developed vocational qualifications for environmental management. He is accepted as a leader in his field.

Stephen Burley studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and has worked on several waste management research programmes with the Department of the Environment and the Environment Agency. He joined the Open University in 1993 and is involved in the teaching of environmental
engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His research interests include municipal waste compositional surveys and waste combustion.

Toni Gladding has been researching dusts associated with Materials Recovery Facilities (MRF) and other waste management processes for the past 12 years, including both occupational and environmental hazards. Her PhD was entitled 'Health and Safety Hazards in Waste Management: With Specific Reference to
Materials Recovery Facilities'. Additionally, she has recently written a short course for SMEs on waste and recycling/health and safety for the European Union.
